Our first post on Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs), We provided a wealth of details regarding JW their history, along with the beliefs of JWs (Jesus can be described as the Archangel Michael. Is that true? ) And even some myths regarding JWs (Yes you can have beards!). I hope that you’ll feel more secure if anyone were to inquire about JWs. However, I would like to go deeper into some of the questions we touched lightly in the initial JW article. In particular, many people have asked me questions about the JW Version of the Bible, and we’re about to explore it more thoroughly on this page. If you cannot locate an issue you or your kids are interested in, please send me a note via the comment section.

What is the story of how Jehovah’s Witnesses got their start?
Jehovah’s Witnesses were founded from their home in the United States in the latter part of the nineteenth century, influenced by the principles of Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916). The early 1870s saw Russell create the Bible study organization and proclaimed it the International Bible Students Association -based in his hometown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The group was a Bible study group that was part of the Adventist tradition. However, Russell denied being an Adventist or affiliated with Ellen G. White’s Seventh-day Adventist Tradition.
It was in 1879 that Russell released the journal Zion’s Watch Tower and Herald of Christ’s Presence, which would later become an official publication of the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ leading publication, The Watchtower. The early 1880s saw Russell create Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society. Zion’s Watch Tower Tract Society.
The headquarters was moved from Pittsburgh in 1909 to Brooklyn, New York, where it remained until it moved in 2017 to Warwick, New York, in the year 2017.
Russell succeeded lawyer Joseph Franklin Rutherford (1869-1942), the 2nd President of the Watch Tower Society, who invented the term Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1931. Rutherford established several unique aspects of JWs, like increased home-to-house outreach, not being involved in military or political activities, and not celebrating Christmas.
Jehovah’s Witnesses – Who are We?
We are a diverse group of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, but we have a common goal. We want to be awed by Jehovah, our God in the Bible and the creator of everything. We aim to be like Jesus Christ and are proud to be known as Christians. We spend hours helping others learn about the Bible and God’s Kingdom. We’re recognized as Jehovah’s witnesses since we are witnesses or speak about Jehovah God and his Kingdom.
What should you expect during what to expect at a Jehovah’s Witness gathering?
The meetings are based on listening to a Bible section from the New World Translation that all Jehovah’s Witnesses utilize, discussing the Bible passage with others while reflecting on how to apply Jehovah’s principles throughout their lives.
Does it make sense to quit Jehovah’s Witness?
The only way to legally be a Jehovah’s Witness is to either disassociate yourself or get disfellowshipped. Both come with the exact penalties and restrictions without any provision for continuing regular membership.
