How To Stay Happy And Motivated At Work

    1. Take A Break Between Tasks

Although you might have a deadline to beat, working all day without a single break can certainly make your life miserable. It not only increases your risk of getting burned out but could also have a significant impact on your productivity. Such can be accompanied by reduced motivation creativity and make you moody at times. According to Sharon Salzberg (the author of Real Happiness at Work), taking a 5-minute break between tasks or after every hour can help keep you motivated and rejuvenate your energy.

Make a habit of stepping out of your workstation during lunch break for at least 30 minutes before coming back. You could use this time to have small talk with your colleagues, go for a walk, or have a quiet lunch. Consider taking a vacation if you’ve been working for many months without one.

    2. Stay Hydrated and Eat Healthy

Another trick to enjoying every moment at work is by staying hydrated and eating healthy foods. Instead of reaching for drinks and beverages loaded with tons of sugars and calories, drink pure water instead. Drinking pure water will help keep your cells hydrated, allowing them to flush out toxins that could hinder your productivity and alertness. You also want to stick to a healthy diet plan as well. It’s only by having nutritious meals that you can maintain healthy energy levels and a positive attitude throughout the day. According to Shirly Weiss, a nutritionist, you are better off with whole foods/snacks for lunch, such as honey, cherry tomatoes, yogurt, and asparagus compared to foods loaded with fats and processed sugars.

    3. Stay Organized

Make a habit of cleaning and organizing your desk or office first thing before settling in in the morning. A messy desk/office will only trigger increased stress levels, costing you happiness through the day. However, cleaning and organizing the space helps promote increased efficiency and a happier you.

    4. Avoid Multitasking

While many do not know this, multitasking drains you faster than working on a project at a time. In addition to this, it will take longer to complete two tasks done concurrently than if you were to handle each separately. Multitasking can be overwhelming and draining for many people, a reason we don’t recommend it. If possible, create a checklist of tasks to do before the end of the day to guide you through. 5. Learn To Accept and Appreciate People as They Are

Everyone has a unique personality. Even individuals with the worst personalities have something good in them. One way to avoid conflicts in the workplace is to accept people as they are and appreciate what they offer. Practice self-restraint if someone provokes you.

    6. Exercise

Avoid staying in one place for too long. Depending on your workplace setup, you can create time to walk around, stretch, or even walk outside. Getting at least 10-minutes’ worth of exercise every day will help keep the blood flowing. This will help improve the supply of oxygen and nutrients to all major parts of the body, leaving your stronger and alert for longer.
