How Old Do You Have To Be To Skydive

Are you interested in skydiving? Be sure to meet the skydiving standards listed below. While we would love to skydive, some skydiving requirements must be fulfilled. Skydiving is one of the safest extreme sports, and making sure we comply with these standards will keep it as safe as it is.

Within the United States, all skydiving passengers must be 18 years old to skydive in United States Parachute Association member dropzones. In Skydive New England, we frequently get asked if kids or teenagers younger than 18 are allowed to skydive with parental permission. However, USPA dropzones are restricted to accepting passengers more youthful than 18 years older.

What’s the Minimum Age for Skydiving?

The first thing to discuss is who decides on the rules.

In DZONE(r) Skydiving, we offer top-of-the-line skydiving experiences at three distinct destinations: Boise and Coeur D’Alene in Idaho and Bozeman within Montana. Each dropzone is affiliated with the USPA (United States Parachute Association) and PIA (Parachute Industry Association), The industry’s authorities that set the policy, technology, and training guidelines for skydiving. The USPA requires all dropzones to adhere to strict rules regarding safety, instructor qualifications, and equipment maintenance.

What’s the minimum age required for tandem skydiving?

The minimum age to skydive tandem within Australia can be 12 years old. The age limit is determined by the Australian Parachute Federation (APF). As of May 2012, the age limit was reduced from 14 years due to industry and participant demand. This meant that many youngsters under 14 were looking to leap from airplanes! While there are rules for children not yet 12 to skydive, the APF application process is complicated and not used often in public. As per the APF, 90% of skydivers’ applications below 12 years of age come from kids born into families who skydive (see Meet Tai, a child skydiver).

    Can Kids Go Skydiving?

We’ll say it straight. Yes, children can skydive! Countries such as Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, along the United Kingdom all take kids younger than 18 skydiving. However, most skydiving centers don’t, and all United States except us. At Ultimate Skydiving Adventures, we’ve created a strict procedure and adhere to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. We have taken more than 500 children ranging from 7-17 and up skydiving in the time since we have been open since the beginning of 2017.

Do you think your parents need to get up too?

Another question that is often associated with the age of skydivers is, “do dad and mum need to be skydivers too? Does dad or mum have to do it?. It’s not true. If your parents don’t wish to skydive, or if they’ve done the experience and do not want to repeat the thrill, then they only must accept the waiver to permit you to skydive by one of our expert skydiving instructors. Of course, the flight with your parents at an altitude of 14,000 feet is a fantastic experience that you’ll be able to keep for a long time.

Woman tandem skydiving – DZONE(r) Skydiving

According to the USPA, All skydivers who are first-time jumpers must be 18 years of age or older. This is tough and fast. No ID, no skydiving. Before heading out to the drop zone, ensure you’ve got an official, valid ID issued by the government.

WILL THE AGE OF SKYDIVING EVER CHANGE?

However, the minimum age to skydive could be altered despite the current rules. Through the years, there’s been a controversy over the correct period to take a skydive across the U.S. In the 60s, the mandatory requirement was age 21, and in the year 1970, it was a matter of adjusting to the state’s legal age that ranged between 17 and 21. There was a time when some dropzones allowed teenagers to fly freefall with parental consent.

In light of this experience, there’s a good chance that the age minimum to skydive could change once more. We don’t expect to change anytime soon. Although this was a massive debate in the past, it’s not as urgent of a subject in the present. The only way to be changed is if legal adulthood was modified nationwide within the United States, a big project.

    MAXIMUM SKYDIVING WEIGHT

Over 200lbs? We’ll still be able to take you for skydives. Although the maximum weight in the “Learn to Skydive” Accelerated Freefall program is 200lbs, we can accommodate individuals who weigh up to 260lbs for tandem skydives.

Our weight requirements for skydiving are not designed to make it discriminatory. Skydiving weight requirements are focused on safety for our customers and our instructors. The more students skydiving is, the more significant physical strain it places on the skydiving instructor. When the aircraft leaves the runway through the parachute’s opening to landing, the additional weight can cause severe problems.

Is There a Maximum Skydiving Age?

Nope! The skydiving community has become known for its warm, supportive, and inspiring individuals of all ages and levels, including older adults.

If you’re in good shape and have a very active lifestyle, you’re probably an ideal prospect for skydiving regardless of the date you were born. Former President George H. W. Bush celebrated his birthdays of 75th, 80th, 85th, and 90th birthdays by skydiving, and people from all over the globe jump into triple-digits every year.

Is It Safe to Take Kids Skydiving?

Skydiving is a risk, and there is no guarantee of security. We do all we can to reduce the risk as much as possible to provide this incredible possibility likely within our country in the United States. According to research, tandem skydiving is the most secure form of safety. There were 0.003 deaths per thousand skydives during the last ten years of this sport. According to these numbers, you’re more likely to strike lightning or even win the lottery!

    Regardless of Age …

No matter what your age, general health, peace of thought, physical flexibility, and general strength are all in support of the skydiving experience
