Next, modify the page layout. Add your text and photos. Finally, download the PNG file and upload to Google Keep. GIFs can also be used as Google Keep headers. Keep reading to learn how!
Steps to Create Your Google Keep Headers
Let’s get started by describing how to create simple, but fun, custom Google Keep headers using these six easy steps.
1. Make a new Google Slides presentation or a new Google Drawing.
You can design your Google Keep headers on any platform, Google Slides or Google Drawings. Google Slides is recommended if you need to create multiple headers within a single document. Google Drawings can be used if you only need to create one header that you can save as a backup. You can use both the tools for similar functionality so you just need to choose one.
Slides.new is a great way to create a new Google Slides presentation or drawing. Slides.new allows you to create new Google Slides presentations and drawings. Or, you can use Google Slides to create a new Google Drawings document.
Use the slides.new URL to create a new presentation.
2. Change your page dimensions (optional)
While this is not necessary, we prefer to create headers that are slightly shorter than the slide/drawing height. Google Keep headers can be any size – this depends on your design style.
You can change the page dimensions by going to File, then “Page Setup”. Click on the dropdown and choose “Custom” to enter your preferred dimensions. While we’ve found 6 x 3, inches to be the most effective, it is possible to use other dimensions. Click on “Apply” once you are done to save your changes.

3. For your Google Keep header titles, add your text and/or artwork
Now, let’s get creative! Incorporate your Google Keep header text into your design. It’s best to make your text large so it is easy to read when your image is added as a Google Keep note.
If you have used our suggested slide/drawing dimensions (e.g. 6 x 3 in.), you will want to choose a font that is at least 80 pt. The font size you choose will affect this. Fonts can be sized differently depending on many factors. You can play with the font on your page layout to ensure that it takes up most of the page’s width.

This is a great place to use word art to enhance your design. Click on “Insert”, and then choose “Word Art”. Simply type in your word(s), then select “Word Art” to alter its appearance.
Google Slides can be customized with text and word art

4. Use icons and/or other images to add visual cues to your notes
A picture is worth a thousand phrases. You might consider adding icons, visuals or even bitmoji to your Google Keep headers. The combination of text and images makes it easier to identify the right note.
Look for images with transparent backgrounds when you’re adding images (typically these are PNG files). Other tools we recommend are Google slides add-ons, such as Insert Icons for Slides. Also, the IconsMania website created by SlidesMania. Google Fonts has its own icons.

5. As an image file, download your Google Keep Header
After you’re done creating your masterpiece, it’s time for you to download your image file. This is the same process for Google Slides and Google Drawings. It is best to download it as both a PNG and JPG file.
Click “File”, “Download”, then “Download”, to download your slide/drawing as an image. This will instantly download the image to your computer. Next, you can use this image in Google Keep.
